FAQ’s

What is PRP?

Platelet-rich plasma is also known as PRP. Our blood is composed of four primary elements: plasma, platelets, red cells and white cells. Your platelets are rich in growth factors which are needed for healing wounds. We have an unlimited supply of plasma and platelets as our body is constantly making new blood. Incorporating PRP into a variety of our treatments allows you to experience superior results, quicker recovery post treatments and a more natural, regenerative approach to tackling some of your skin and health concerns.

How Are PRP Treatments Performed?

First, one of our physician assistants or nurse practitioners will draw a small amount of your blood. Once this is performed, your blood will then be placed in a state of the art centrifuge in order to separate the PRP from the other components in your blood. The Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is often referred to as ‘liquid gold’ due to the golden color and tint that is produced after this separation occurs.

PRP is currently offered within a variety of our services including PRP facial Injections, PRP hair restoration, as well as the preferred enhancement to any microneedling treatment (the trendy ‘vampire facial’). Adding PRP post laser treatments also increases your healing time and may overall enhance your treatments’ results.

Is PRP Safe?

Yes! PRP is an all-natural, regenerative medicine, meaning the human body is using its own natural ability to heal and regenerate your cells and skin tissue. There is no potential for an allergic reaction since it comes from your own blood. PRP is great treatment for those patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding as well!

PRP & Hair Loss

Hair loss affects over 80 million Americans. Platelet-rich plasma can accelerate healing in many areas of the body, including hair follicles. Many providers utilize this treatment to reduce hair loss and increase the diameter of hairs and the density of hair growth.

PRP injections trigger collagen synthesis and natural hair growth and maintain it by increasing blood supply to the skin and hair follicles and increasing the health and thickness of the skin and hair shaft.

How Long Do Results Last?

Often, a series of injections are needed - we usually suggest three. The majority of patients begin to notice the ‘baby hairs’ start to pull through a couple weeks after the second treatment due to normal hair growth cycles. More noticeable results are seen, and continue to improve, over 3 months. Patients will typically receive maintenance treatments every 6-12 months until desired results have been achieved. Once you have received the recommended amount of treatments, you’ll enjoy the benefits for over a year!
